Important Information about Mounjaro
Mounjaro is not yet available for prescribing on the NHS, our integrated care board is currently reviewing the national guidance and will inform us on the next steps.
We will continue to update this page and share information with local partners as we receive guidance on the phased approach. Please note that access will be strictly limited based on strict criteria of health need.
Due to the significant demand and limited capacity available, it is expected that there be several stages of prioritisation within cohorts of patients.
Once the local guidance is approved and shared by the health authority, it is likely that patients will need to meet the STRICT criteria below:
The criteria to qualify is as follows:
- BMI of 40 or more (it will be checked at the appointment to confirm is above 40 if it is not above 40 please do not book an appointment
- If BM is above 40 then you will also need to have been diagnosed with FOUR of the following five criteria:
- Diagnosed hypertension
- Diagnosed sleep apnoea
- Diagnosed type 2 diabetes
- Diagnosed cardiovascular disease
- Diagnosed hypercholesterolemia
If you do not have a BMI above 40 and FOURof the conditions above your GP will not be able to approve Mounjaro for weight loss once the clinical pathway is established, (based on the current guidance). Hence, we request that appointments are not booked for this purpose.
